His name is Dennis. He hails from Jaro, Leyte and is one of the many street fishball vendors braving the streets of Alangalang even under the scorching heat of the sun.
Dennis was just passing by the NFA Alangalang Warehouse, one of his usual routes, when he saw the GRECON – Palo Operated Outlet stationed outside the said warehouse.
At first, he was just stopping by because some of the laborers who were on break decided to buy snacks from his cart and then he left after realizing that no one else is buying and continued on to his usual route.
At around 4 o’clock though, he came back with his cart already empty, or at least almost empty (I counted around 6 pieces of fishballs inside the glass container), and walked towards the outlet while counting the money he was buying rice with.
He bought 4 kilograms of rice to bring home to his family.
Four kilograms of affordable and quality NFA rice.
We don’t know how much he earned for the day but we can only try to imagine how much money he was able to save for buying NFA rice at only 32.00 per kilogram.
